Scott “Boomy” Brumbaugh

I started kayaking in 2011 with the intention of fishing skinny water in East Galveston Bay and to get to better hunting grounds off Lake Conroe, Texas. Soon though I was introduced to fishing beyond the surf in the upper coast of Texas for bull reds and sharks.

That introduction changed everything for me in both fishing and kayaking. Though I don’t frequent those muddy waters off the upper coast anymore in lieu of blue water off the Texas and Florida coasts, the lessons learned there opened the doors for adventures that I could never have predicted.

Fishing without a kayak is no longer an option for me. They have become an earned symbiosis. I’m a few inches off the water, I worked to get out here, I fought my prey at its level, and I earned the ultimate prize….. this experience, this adventure. You can’t go back from that.
